Benny Goodman Gets In The Swing

From Buy this print £100.00

Swing music became increasingly fashionable from the early Thirties.

One big band embraced the new sound and became so popular that its leader, Benny Goodman, was crowned the ‘King of Swing’.

Goodman was a very distinctive clarinet player with brilliant technique and timing.

This shot shows him demonstrating a new clarinet at a trade show at Chicago’s Palmer House Hotel in 1960 accompanied by the vibraphonist Red Norvo.
